Behind The Lense: Batman Beyond- Pintography
That one time Juan from Pintography and I fast traveled to Neo-Gotham to shoot Batman Beyond!
Welcome to Behind the Lens - where I tell the story of the photoshoots that I collaborate with photographers on - in this edition we look at the shoot of my Batman Beyond cosplay I did with Pintography
What happens when a cosplayer and a photographer hang around a convention center in Neo-Gotham? Well, you are about to find out.
Behind the Lens: Pintography Shoots Batman Beyond
The Cosplay
Batman Beyond is my favorite Batman iteration. I love the show, the comics, and really any other media that has to do with Batman Beyond. This was a natural choice for my first-ever cosplay and cosplay shoot. You can read more about the inspiration and build process here.
The Photographer
Juan and I have followed each other on Instagram for a while, he was always super supportive of my Batman Beyond build from the early stages all the way to the finished product. I knew C2E2 was the first con I would be able to cosplay at and really wanted to get this photoed. We connected on Instagram and put the shoot together for C2E2 2024!
The Setting
C2E2 takes place at McCormick Place every year. Being the massive contention center that it is, there is no shortage of areas that can have a Neo-Gotham look to them. Most of these were shot in the Hyatt Regency parking structure or in the alleyways between the convention center and the hotel.
The Results
I had never done a cosplay shoot before so needless to say I was a little nervous and didn’t quite know what to expect. Juan was an absolute professional. He took the time to answer all of my questions and help me put together the themes/poses/ideas for the shoot before we made it to McCormick so that everything went smoothly on the day of. I was so thrilled with the results (and still am), I feel like we captured the Neo-Gotham vibe from the show that I love so much. Some of the details that stood out to me included the silhouette shots with the glass window right above it, really gave it the cyberpunk vibe. Other than the wind almost knocking me off of a pillar (Windy City am I right?!) the shoot went perfectly.
