Behind the Lens: Nightwing - Sepra Photography
After the fun of shooting a CyberPunk Nomad and Red Hood cosplay during Anime Magic - Sepra Photography and I teamed up to shoot my Nightwing on Lower Wacker Drive.
Welcome to Behind the Lens - where I tell the story of the photoshoots that I collaborate with photographers on - in this edition we look at the shoot of my Red Hood cosplay I did with Alex - Sepra Photography.
Two Nightwing shoots? Grayson is my favorite super hero so of course I did more than one photoshoot. Read all about Alex - Sepra Photographt’s shoot below.
Behind the Lens: Sepra Photography Shoots Nightwing
The Cosplay
Nightwing is one of my favorite superheroes and I have been reading the comic book for years. Nightwing became a no-brainer for me to cosplay and get photographed in different settings to get different vibes. You can read all about the inspiration and creation of the costume here.
The Photographer
Alex and I had a blast shooting my Cyberpunk Nomad and Red Hood cosplays back at Anime Magic. I had been wanting to get shots of my Nightwing done for a while but it never fit my con schedule. Alex and I stayed in contact after Anime Magic and got this Nightwing shoot on the calendar.
The Setting
Alex came up with the idea of shooting on Lower Wacker and it was a great idea. We met at a garage on Lower Wacker and ventured out to street level. There was an opera going on at the Chicago Opera House this particular Sunday and the garage was full with people attending. The elevator ride to street level was an interesting one with me fully suited up and people dressed in actual suits to enjoy the opera. We heard more than one car horn and a person or two yelling at us out a window while we shot (good old Lower Wacker).
The Results
Lower Wacker looks just like Gotham/Bludhaven. The graffiti, the dark streets, garage gates, cement barriers, and more look just like Gotham after dark. Alex’s location scouting was perfect and the editing gave the pictures that gritty Gotham feel. Plus the thunder coming from the Escrima Sticks look badass.
